  1. I was chatting to my wife about all this and her feelings about living here in the UK or living in Thailand. She said there's a few things she misses like she would love to see a street food cart and the odd tin cup here and there but that's about it. She cant believe the support we had over the birth of my son and my treatment, she really finds it hard to believe on how the NHS works and other things in the UK we all don't see in our day to day life. She has also made a small group of Thai friends and a small group of foreigners of which she is really happy with and her life here. She doesn't even care about heading back for an holiday....

  8. Now we have the covid 19 all in question on how to handle it with restrictions putting in place making it hard for farangs to even visit Thailand. Then its clear to see that with everything in place that the amount of farangs is probably the lowest its been in years. They also say the money that comes in from fanangs and holiday and retirement and it means nothing to the country and its not really needed. Then you see Falang companies feeding Thai families and doing what the government should be doing.... if the tourism and expats means so very little to them why is the arse starting to fall out of the baht..... Is it just me or can others see this too..?

  12. Just read this on Pattaya one news and I guess there's a lot of truth in this.... Update: The REAL reason Pattaya keeps flooding The real reason Pattaya continually floods is so simple to understand, and easy to x, that it is surprising nobody on the City’s authority hasn’t already tackled it. In Pattaya, there are thousands of street food vendors offering anything from noodle soups to meat pies circulating the city almost 24hours a day. There are food markets all over town offering both cooked and uncooked products every afternoon and evening. And, at the end of each shift, every single one of them pours their leftovers into the nearest drain. So far so good, you might think. The problem comes when it doesn’t rain, because then this food waste lays rotting in the drain only a few feet from the street surface. Then, later on in the evening the taxi drivers come along, park up and place a mat, or ragged piece of carpet over the drain so they are not disturbed by the smell of the food vendor’s festering waste. When it does rain, thousands of drains around the city are covered up and nobody thinks to remove the mats. And so the streets flood and everybody blames the local authority. Well, somebody recently seems to have, at least, partially worked it out. They are finally on the right lines Food vendors at the X-Zyte weekly market were caught flushing food waste into Pattaya’s sewer system. City spokesman Pinit Maneerat said that ONE vendor was cited for littering and creating an untidy area. He has been fined 1,000 baht and warned that a heavier fine and jail time would follow if he does it again. City Hall inspectors also witnessed several other vendors dumping food waste into sewers, but they ran away and avoided fines. Pinit said the market will now be monitored to make sure litter and food is disposed of legally. They might also want to patrol Soi Buakhoa and every other soi removing all the old carpet from the drain tops and start fining everybody who puts them back. Until then, the flooding continues. https://pattayaone.news/update-the-real-reason-pattaya-keeps-flooding/
  13. My guess would be many at happy hour use local branded drinks to re-place the original branded ones without any notice. A common practice in Spain on all inclusive holidays. For an example:- I'd ask for a Smirnoff and coke but then expect to pay more then the shown happy hour deal. I'd ask for a local vodka and coke but then expect to pay the price shown on the happy hour deal board. I have sean many get mixed up with both of the above and to me its simple.
  14. Just been reading this:- Special Update: Homeless living in abandoned beer bars in Pattaya visited by social welfare officials Pattaya- A large group of homeless, estimated in the dozens, living in abandoned beer bar complexes in South Pattaya were visited by social welfare officials today following a report from us and other local Thai media. We first published this news two days ago and the article, which focused on homeless people living in abandoned beer bars and telling their stories in Pattaya, went viral internationally being read tens of thousands of times. Today, The Pattaya News was invited to re-visit the complex with local social welfare officials who promised not to kick out the homeless but rather attempt to provide them with assistance. The Chonburi Homeless Protection Center staff along with the staff of the Pattaya Social Development Office visited a beer bar complex in the Soi Buakhao area of South Pattaya along with Pattaya News reporters this morning to speak with some of those living there. Officials from the offices attempted to encourage some of the residents to temporarily take shelter at the Chonburi Homeless Protection Center. They also spoke with two families who were living in the complex who were not from the Chonburi area and originally from Chaiyaphum and Buriram. The families expressed to the officials that they wanted to return to their home province but did not have money for a ticket. The social welfare officials agreed to help the two families return to their home province and are in the process of securing them a courtesy bus ticket from Chonburi to help them safely return home to relatives in their home province. The Chonburi Homeless Protection Center stated that some of the others were considering the offer to move into the homeless shelter, however, they could not force the residents to do so. Officials stated they would check on the homeless living in the complex on a regular basis and make sure they were safe. Additionally, relevant agencies are working with those homeless who wish to work and attempting to help them secure employment in the Chonburi area so they can begin making an income once more. https://thepattayanews.com/2020/07/21/special-update-homeless-living-in-abandoned-beer-bars-in-pattaya-visited-by-social-welfare-officials/

  16. I really cant believe in what's happening today.. Three lads who i've worked with for over 20 years have just turned up to sort out the garden and finish the kitchen. I so over whelmed and i've tried hard to keep on top of it all and over the last few months its all just got too much and out of my control. They have all chipped in to order the vinyl for the kitchen flooring and they plan to get this done over the next week. While I'm typing this i've got tears running down my face and I just didn't expect this at all.. I guess this is what we all call friends and one of them has said to me you have helped us all out in times gone past and now its time to help you..
