Went to the Triangle bar thought I'd try it out. Had a place mat that said All beer and spirits two for one. I asked the waitress (always looking for the scam) does that mean two drinks for the price of one. She said yes. I got the first drink and looked at the bin and the price was for two drinks. When I queried it they said that's right you get the one price for two drinks. Nice scam. First and last time I will go to the Triangle bar. Spoke to a guy on the way out and he got caught with the same thing. Said he was leaving after he finished the drink so two potential regulars that they lost. Not that they will care.

I would surely make a point to speak with the owner. Either that same day or at some point in the future and joyfully tell him to fcuk off.

I had never heard of Gary Clark Jr. prior to tonight  Jon Stewart had him on as a guest. I looked up some of his music. Jesus Christ the man can play the guitar. We are talking about Hendrix level talent here. IMO.

I will fly Nok Air to Mae Sot where my car is waiting for me to use during my stay having been basically in storage. Sai and her sister have a Ford truck and some monster Isuzu.

I finally changed my flights today.

I will fly to Bangkok on the 20th October and then Don Mueang to Mae Sot returning to Edinburgh on the 15th November. On the way back I will give myself a week or so in Pattaya. I picked those dates to hopefully miss the rainy season both "Up North" and in Pattaya.

Qatar Airways ripped me off to the tune of four hundred pounds to change my flights. I suppose that reflects how much the fare has increased since I originally booked.

I think October is a wise move mate. Less chance of rain.

Best wishes. I am very glad you have something to look forward to. You have worked hard to get there.

    Well deserved mate. Well deserved.

Fair enough, but the only heads that will be rolling will be those of the people responsible for the lack of protective measures around (the pillars of) the bridge. Engine failures do happen, also aboard ships. If I am not mistaken, the ship was registered in Singapore, in which case it was probably well maintained.

Multiple failures across the board. Which is often the case.

As it happened in the USA, that is a given.

Doubtful, most if not all insurance companies re-insure to avoid that problem.

As it happened in the USA, that again is a given.

    AMEN!

Call me Thomas, I'll have to see it before I believe it.

    Ok Thomas.

I used to work with a "risk manager" (basically an insurance guy). The stories and insight he gave me ref. insurance was dumbfounding.

Dumfries! You must have tried the national dish of scotland

    INGREDIENTS
    1  Mars bars
    1  cup plain flour
    1⁄2 cup cornflour
    1  pinch baking soda
     beer
     oil (for deep frying)

    DIRECTIONS
Chill the chocolate bar by keeping it in the fridge, but don't freeze it.
Mix the flours and bicarbonate of soda (baking soda) together.
Add beer (which gives a lighter until you get a batter with the consistency of thin cream.
Heat the oil until a small piece of bread will brown in a few seconds, but don't allow to smoke.
Remove wrapper (optional) from chilled chocolate bar.
    Coat completely in batter.
Carefully lower into hot oil and fry until golden brown.
Serve, with ice cream or french fries, if you're so inclined.

The first thing I did last night when I got home after 6 weeks away was make a list of what I have to do.

Up at 0630 today-must be jet lagged-in Sainsburys at 7,groceries & 12 bottles of red,did a shedload of washing(or the machine did),sorted out a shedload of mail, ordered another 12 bottles of wine from Sainsburys online, went to see my mum in the care home just up the road & I'm just about to meet a mate in my local for my first real ale since leaving.

I also ran both our cars & checked the tyres on them & drove over to mum's house to check it out.

    I need another fucking holiday!

    lol

Not having a car has added years to my life.

Had to walk down Soi Bucky today. I don't think I have ever said so many curse words within twenty minutes in my life (and that is difficult to match, lol).

    What a friggen cesspool.

I went on a 3 day cruise Sing-Penang-Sing a few years ago. I didn't see much disease except for a few cases of scurvy, but that's normal on such a voyage. Casino operating 24 hrs a day (let's not alert golfingboy)

Golf Boy would be a gonner. One of the few vices I have never been cursed with.

I will never forget the story about the cruise that had the sewage overfull and people were stuck on the ship for about a week.

Fcuk that. Disease factories full of drunken assholes. Actually, I would probably fit right in.
