That area is a prime spot for typhoons, usually at least a few every year. In the last really big one they lost all their crops, most of the animals and half of the house, got nothing from the Govt despite an international aid fund, pocketed by politicians. Yes,right at the bottom of jomtien beach road,busiest ive ever seen it,some nice restarauntsand 100s of thais having a picnic on the beach,nightmare traffic,restructuring the beach too,and making a good job of it from what ive seen,only a small section left,like pattaya its been raised up a good few feet.
