Saw this video on Fakebook today, I am not really sure what to make of it. The guy obviously has money and has a heart of gold but handing out wads of cash to staff in bars etc seems a little odd especially as many will not receive the cash.

This is the guy that handed out 8,000 or 9,000 per staff member at Triangle bar at the height of the last lockdown.

Stick Uncensored – Coming Sunday 16th January 2022

It has been almost 1 year since the last weekly column was published and much has happened in Thailand, Bangkok and Pattaya during the past 12 months - some good, some bad, and lots of ugly.

With so much to tell now is the right time to resume weekly updates but not as you know it.

Writing about the nightlife industry can leave you omitting interesting information for a variety of reasons such as pandering to the owners and advertisers, keeping nasty bar owners at bay to prevent threats of violence and half a dozen other reasons telling the truth can land you in hot water.

Now the cuffs are off, there will be no holding back as weekly updates will be published as a newsletter in case the man featured in the return column decides to do as he did to Andrew Drummond's website where he paid his pals at the MICT 50,000 baht to have it blocked.

Moving forward there will be no more adverts, no more paid plugs, no more advertorials meaning no pressure to keep quiet on what is really going on out there.

Instead, readers can choose to subscribe for updates on a monthly or annual basis with the latter offering a substantial discount.

The math in his (I would guess modest) You-Tube revenue, and expenditures, does not seem like it would work out with this guy....(Also with other You Tubers like Ride-for-kicks).....Sure his channel is doing OK,  but not throwing around wads of money around good......He does ask for donations sometimes, but still...

Also...Ride for kicks must spend Loads of money on all the hotels, nice restaurants, gifts, lots of travel, help with editing etc  yet he never ask for (please subscribe), likes, super chats, patreon donations... Zilch.....

Take, Brian Flowers or Buzzin Pattaya or Everything Pattaya or Le pub or NDtv and many more are mostly just having a chat, going for walks around town, looking at hotel rooms, hanging on the beach etc....Just doing very low cost things....So their videos production cost would not be eating into their You-tube revenue,or very little....

Not sure why you say the staff won't receive the cash , he hands it to them directly

I didn't really explain that bit very well. He is obviously helping that particular bar and all the staff will receive money but considering there are hundreds (thousands) of bars there are many staff just looking in at how lucky those staff in the video are. Not sure how he is selecting the bars to donate his funds to.

It is nice for some to benefit but many won't.  There are also many charities that would benefit from those funds.

A person can do whatever they want with their money but I still find it strange.

So because he can't help everyone he shouldn't bother at all ....

I believe he selected Triangle Bar because he had seen it highlighted in another vloggers film , he was moved by the story and wanted to assist

I can't see anything bad in this at all , apart from his accent which annoys me after a while .. 😉

Where did I say 'he shouldn't bother'.

I have no issue with him handing out money (people can do what they like with their money) but I don't know the guy or how he gets his money. I just found it odd how a guy is selecting certain bars to hand out money to staff etc when no doubts there could be bars and staff worse off, what is his criteria for selection. Once he gets around to all the bars and staff then maybe he has achieved his purpose.

I was also concerned that he might run foul of some who may see him walking around with money envelopes as he is quite open about what he does.

I would say though that I would be more enlightened by his deed if he gave money to various charities who probably have seen strains on their funds during the pandemic. Probably, yes, I do see more deserving people who could benefit from any extra funds but that is just my view.

Interesting point , but from what I've seen over the years on vlogs and on forums , most people don't seem to trust charities in Thailand ....when cash has been raised in the past , the organisers always seem to end up buying books , toys , food , drink , clothes etc and delivering these items rather than handing cash over and allowing the organisation to spend it as they see fit...

anyway "Retired Working For you" has 18 other paying it forward vlogs , where he helps people maybe some of these will meet with your approval

Must admit I never look at Vlogs and this just popped up on my Fakebook videos so only saw this one.

I suppose, when I think about it, giving money directly to recipients is a real benefit whereas passing money to charities (if like in UK) could see the majority of money not going directly to help those in need.

Still think he comes across as odd but happy to follow him along the street in case he drops an envelope lol

If/when I donate or "give" something to someone I do it directly, and without any expectations.

I am not concerned with what others may or may not be doing.... Up too them. Strictly a personal thing to me.

I watch some vlogs, what they do with their cash is up too them. I could care less.

Here is what I sent to some people earlier in the day

I awoke today to a surprise inbox – the first day in several months where I had more than 10 new emails, and every one of them was about the posting on the Stickman site about an upcoming newsletter.

To clarify, this is nothing to do with me, the founder of the site and the original writer. I don’t have any access to the site (and that includes the email address listed on the site which I have never had access to). While I would like to resume writing something at some point, at this point in time there aren’t any firm plans to do so. This newsletter is NOT ME!

The owner of the Stickman site i.e. the people who bought it from me has been made aware of this post and I am sure efforts will be made to remove it.

The identity of the person behind this post isn’t known but I suspect they will soon be identified. Whether someone has gone rogue or the site has been hacked, I really couldn’t say. I have my suspicions but we will know for sure soon, I imagine.

Interesting bit of drama. Page now removed from the site.

I give quietly. Even within our close knit Thai community.

IMO openly "showing money" is an insult.

I'm not a socialist. I'm not a Christian nor any other religion. I'm just a bloke that has a small amount in my bank and a small amount in my freezer. At the end of every month I ensure both are empty.

No home Covid-19 tests allowed to enter Pattaya bars

Pattaya-News-1-Jan-09-03-Chonburi-PH-wat Home tests are no longer allowed, so if someone wants a beer in a Pattaya restaurant, they have to take a test first.

Plenty of bars allowing people in without tests last night

In the Tree Town area? I think that's where they're concentrating their enforcement efforts. Would be good news if there were a few bars in that area that are ignoring the requirement; just as many bars outside the Tree Town area are.
