Most of the Chinese tourists are just flocking where they are told to flock......

I am sure also that the powers in City hall might be asking certain nations what they do want to see in Walking Street, turning it into a Macau style casino area might be high on the list.

Fortunately, they can't do that...yet. :default_bitenails:

Word is...

The bars and restaurants were absolutely rammed throughout pattaya and jomtien today...

The predictions of an apocalyptic closure of bars and restaurants may have been over egged.

Are bars now allowed to open as from today? I thought it was just restaurants, being allowed to serve alcohol as well as food or am I behind on information?

That's what I thought. So if is true that " bars and restaurants were absolutely rammed throughout Pattaya and Jomtien" the the bars were presumably breaking lock down rules if open

Maybe dcfc 2007 can clarify that one?

When I mean bars, I mean bars that serve food, as in the Retox type bars. A restaurant to me is somewhere where the bulk of sales are on food, no TV's etc,.

So what you are really saying is that the overwhelming majority of bars and GoGo's in Pattaya and Jomtien were not in fact rammed as they are predominantly all still closed due to the fact that they cannot sell alcohol and thus are still closed until they can sell alcohol.

Did I get that right? 🤣

The bars are re-opening in Bangkok. I went out for a run yesterday evening (Monday) on the streets of Bangkok and noticed quite a few bars open.

Also, groups of Thais picnicing and partying outside Benchasiri Park and outside various 7-Eleven locations.

No social arseholing observed in the bars or amongst the partying Thais. :default_cool:

Bro ... that has been occurring since day 1 or this entire f***king mess .... 2 or 3 or 4 up on motorbikes, lines at grocery stores, banks. etc.  ... you name it .... everywhere ....

I never said they were tbh mate. It's a huge improvement on 4 weeks ago, wonderful to see. Small business owners making money, people having fun, social distancing in the bins where it belongs. Just watch over the next couple of weeks, more and more bars will open, with our without permission.

Well there are always some bars that take a chance such as ALL the bars in my mates Condo complex have been doing.

Legally you currently need the correct licence to open and sell alcohol along side food and most bars and GoGo's do not so it is a brave or foolish "mainstream" venue that opens up and openly sells alcohol before the Government permits that to happen.

Tourism has not restarted; social distancing is required; no girls and just enough expats on the piss to make retox busy. The vast majority of bars and gogo's will not reopen until the tourists return. Then the problem will be that the first batch will find the "new normal" so piss poor that they will vow not to return. Better for all concerned to wait for "high season" at the end of the year before opening up again.

That's your opinion.

Mine is that it's bloody fantastic to see small and medium businesses open and operating.

It's great to see hungry Thai's getting back to work and earning a living.

It's great to see bars circumventing the absurd rules, it's great to see people ignoring many of the 'social distancing' requirements.

It's only going to happen more and more over the coming weeks. Sure the BiB will have their stage managed raids, it will be a game of cat and mouse.

But it's looking 1 million times better now than it was 3 or 4 weeks ago, stevie wonder could see that.
