They managed to deliver 670,000 doses of vaccine yesterday, a record. If (and I know it's a very big IF) they could keep that up for a few months the outlook would be a lot brighter.

Let’s all hope so

My wife's grandmother died on Friday which was a sad day for us. I had met her before and she was a lovely lady.

Trouble is she lived in Laos and none of Porn's family can travel from Khon Kaen and Nongkhai to the funeral as the border is closed.  I especially feel sorry for Porn's father as he can't even go to his mothers funeral as to do so would certainly create a major issue with authorities, this is so sad.  It is just the other side of the Mekong in Pak San, a short boat ride from Bueng Kan but it is just not allowed.

Covid was not involved, just old age, the lady was over 100. Covid however has meant a great deal of heartache for Porn's family with the border being closed, so sad.

…well, I may not be coming this year. I’ve been assuming & planning like it, but reality is now sinking in.

-  Plans to open Thailand's leading seaside resort of Pattaya to tourism have been shelved indefinitely.

The plan was to open up on September 1st. The TAT has now abandoned this idea

This came as 6 cases of Covid-19 were reported on Koh Larn off the coast of Pattaya.

Access to the island had already been severely restricted but the latest cases dealt a blow to its limited reopening

All six cases are in hospital care and the mayor said that Pattaya city would be conducting a pro-active testing program of residents there.

The island is being sealed off completely again for 14 days.

The TAT have not set a date when Pattaya can reopen to tourism.

Mayor Sontaya has consistently said that vaccination was the key to the reopening.

Despite this his hand has been forced by the infection numbers and events on Koh Larn meaning that Pattaya will continue to be a ghost town for the foreseeable future.

*I will seriously need to consider going to Mexico as I live on the west coast of the USA.

I have one friend who moved over to  Mexico way back when this whole thing began.  I have another friend who went over there late last year and a third friend who went down 6 months ago.

I’m curious to see what Prayut & his cabinet will say about the Oct 14th “open to foreigners” plan now.

IMHO - this thing is gonna be dragged out long & hard, maybe waiting it out in Mexico is a better option & rethink 2022

Meant to be going 16th January but doesn't look good. If they don't open for high season this year I don't think they'll be much left in Pattaya to go back to. Far to many hoops to have to jump through for me to even consider going at the moment.

I don't know where you're from but for me, getting there from the UK seems fairly easy.  Bigger issue IMO is what's it going to be like once you're there?

If you can wait another couple of weeks to make your go, no go decision, you might have a better idea on how quickly Thailand can dig themselves out the humungous hole they've dug for themselves dealing with the pandemic.

If the current round of restrictions work, along with a continuing ramp up on the daily does of vaccine administered, it may come to pass we'll see the exponential growth in daily infections reverse and become an exponential decline in infections. We've seen this happen in other countries, so I remain hopeful the same will happen here.

Doesn't look like much fun to me.

Better to take up a new hobby, save money, and wait awhile...probably a long while the way it's going.

BBC -

A group of high-level health officials in Thailand have called on the government to issue legal protections for healthcare personnel working to combat Covid.

Leaders from a dozen public health bodies signed a statement calling for the measures, the Bangkok Post reports.

They said health workers should be shielded from liability because they often had to work with limited knowledge and resources, and were at risk of making honest mistakes.

The statement added that protections would boost their confidence in the workplace, so they could continue serving the public interest.

Thailand's government says it is in the process of drafting an executive decree to shield health workers from liability, in consultation with medical staff.

In response to critics of the decree, Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Tuesday that it is intended to protect healthcare professionals, not the government.

Well said.....got an e-mail from my buddy who is a "Captain" for Lufthansa that I met at the gym in Minburi. Tells me his days have been cut to 7 days per month now out of Suvarnabhumi.....not enough passengers obviously coming anywhere from Europe. Has a 9 year old Son who once again is starting school.........in front of a computer this week.

I hope Thailand can get it together.....would welcome a flight back in 2022 back to wifey's house. Miss the buzz of the big city really.

Tin foil hatters......I wish Pattaya News would stop with this conspiracy nonsense.....

Great news, thanks for posting, following other countries.

Sooner the better, get the country opened. The delusional and full of fear can stay hid in their room.

As previously said, less chance of meeting a fuckwit when out and about :tu:

Don't worry, I'll give you my dates before I travel 😂

Hopefully a strategy of some description will follow, but there have been so many plans, scrapped ideas, changed minds and goalposts moved, it is hard to remain optimistic.

How I wish I could invite you all today, for some healthy sauna, cold bath, Steam room with freshly chopped herbs, and some healthy food.

How I wish I could do that, and make happy all of you waiting for normality to be back.

But, sadly, I truly believe normality will never be back.

They're desperately trying to keep this circus going on, it is beyond the joke now...

And people continues dying of hunger on the streets of Pattaya, and Bangkok...

A decade of incredible success, a decade of making people happy, and most of all, healthy !

Will we ever go back to our lives ?

Will we ever be allowed again to take our kids to school, to go to the gym, or to the sauna, or chilling in the beach, or even just having a good meal in one of the great restaurants in our, once amazing, Pattaya ?

I've honestly lost all my hopes...tyrants running this circus will never hand back absolute power.

Hope I'm wrong.

Heartbreaking now to see the place shut, the whole city shut, everything dead shut.

Depressing, unjustified, disgraceful.

We've all completely abandoned by the authorities, we've been left to slowly die.

Pattaya will never be the same, the destruction is way over the point of no return.

I can do all those things here in San Francisco.

Just have to get vaccinated.

And, don't forget to bring proof when you go out to eat or for a drink!

People had been able to do all that in Thailand as they hit it hard and fast at the start, while in Europe they had lockdowns because they didn't.

He's where people in Europe were, but now due to the vaccines, people in Europe once again enjoy those things. I was at a full theatre yesterday, going to a museum today, 50,000 people at the football last week, been back at the gym since March, eat out whenever we want, going to a hotel by the seaside this coming weekend.

I get his frustration, i was the same whilst in lockdown, but vaccines are the way out, and once Thailand gets to where Europe is re their vaccine roll out, then all the freedoms they once had will be restored. It's not rocket science!

As said, i get his frustration, especially as a business owner impacted by all this, though anything i have read from him leads me to believe he is a Covid conspiracy believer, as i think also shows in his posts above, and is of no surprise he is quoted by Mr Forest.

Once we get over this winter, then things will be better pretty much everywhere, as other countries like Thailand get caught up in the vaccine roll outs. Though as is being shown in data, those refusing the vaccine are those putting going back to normality at risk. I wonder if the owner of the Sauna has had or will be getting his vaccine ...

Please define "lots"...

"San Francisco has one of the highest overall vaccination rates in the nation’s most populated state, with at least 83% of residents 12 and older receiving at least one dose."

How do you know that the "comments" are from people who live in San Francisco? You don't.

Go back to whining about losing your sauna.

Maybe you should get a little kitty cat to spend your time with...

“We’ve had a huge number of staff coming down with COVID,” Ben Bleiman, the founder of San Francisco Bar Owner Alliance and the owner of two bars in the city, told Yahoo Finance in an interview.
