And their own behaviour, remember the crowds celebrating Pakistan Independence Day?

There is strong speculation that the Trump coup riot in Washington DC a few days ago will become a superspreader event.

It was populated by mainly one ethnicity: older & middle age white males with red baseball caps.

Crowded, indoors (part of the time for many), screaming loudly, no masks, duration of time...

When I went to Heathrow to pick up Porn from Heathrow the BAA website said that the meet and greet was in front of the lifts outside of arrivals but when I got there it was obvious this was not being used and on glancing into arrivals I could see it was packed.

What shocked me more was that I doubt most were meeting arrivals but just touting for business of rides and nearly all were south Asians. There was absolutely no social distancing and having just come from a locked down Wales it was really a shocking experience.

When I was doing food delivery at nights around the Newbury and Basingstoke area I would visit Shell garages to give them their supply of Jamie Oliver sandwiches etc. Always run by south Asians (at night/early morning) who never wore masks or socially distanced, the number of times I told them not to help me unload as they would just be right along side you.

Where I lived in Uxbridge I often had to travel through Slough etc and those areas were packed with people going about their business as if there was no pandemic, again mostly all south Asians.

Are ethnics more likely to die from it, or are more ethnics dying from it because they don't follow the rules as much? I'm not aware of any genetic predisposition regarding covid.

1. Socio-economic reasons

2. Don't follow the rules / cultural reasons

3. Some might have a pre-disposition. Video from 23 mins 47 secs onwards

Mmmm.

Social distancing, masks where appropriate (crowded indoor areas, supermarkets, public transport) frequent hand washing etc is also just basic good manners these days.

Its not onerous and where I am the majority of people do the right thing. But there are always a few morons.

Just when you thought it could not get worse...

Gorillas infected with coronavirus at San Diego Zoo, human transmission suspected

A coronavirus outbreak among gorillas at the San Diego Zoo suggests humans can transmit the disease to some of their closest primate relatives.

At least two gorillas at the San Diego Zoo have tested positive for the virus and multiple others could be infected, zoo officials said Monday. It’s the first known case of natural transmission to great apes, the branch of primates most closely related to humans...

...Charles Chiu, director of viral diagnostics at UCSF, said it’s unclear if the infected gorillas have spread the virus among themselves or whether a zoo handler gave it to all of them.

He said that’s the key question for researchers. If the virus is capable of spreading within more species, Chiu said, it would drastically complicate efforts to eradicate the virus because it could evolve separately in an animal population.

“Then you can have an ongoing source of infection, and ongoing source of new variants that in turn can be transmitted back to humans,” Chiu said. “It’s very worrisome.” ...

Tell it to the dead & soon to be dead...it won't discriminate against the befuddled Trumpistas.

...& potentially coming to a neighborhood near you soon...if you let it.

Stay well.

Bay Area funeral homes cope with COVID-19 onslaught, and things could get worse

When the pandemic started, Robert Gordon, CEO of Colma’s expansive Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, purchased refrigerated storage to accommodate an extra 100 bodies.

“When we got months in and didn’t have to use them, I thought, ‘Well, it’s good we’re not,’” he said. “But now, with this last surge, we are starting to use the cooler containers. We are seeing a spike of more than double the number of COVID-19 deaths, during a time of year when deaths are high already. Many funeral homes are pushed past their capacity.”

As fatalities mount from the pandemic’s latest escalation, Bay Area funeral homes are struggling to handle the onslaught. The situation could get much worse with an expected increase of infections from Christmas and New Year’s gatherings, which could result in a new wave of deaths later this month and next...

President John Magufuli has opened the Tanzania borders saying that tourism was more important than the threat posed by Covid.

"According to Magufuli, samples were secretly obtained by “testers”, including from a sheep, a goat and a pawpaw, given human names and sent to the country’s national referral laboratory to test for coronavirus which, according to Magufuli, came back positive."

^^^^   Yes. I am certain they were all due to the china virus .... NOT

What does a cull or a non-culltists have to do with anything .... ?

So, it someone doesn't believe the "stats" you present they are a culltists ? ... jeezx

It all goes back to another thread & the OP's question:

"If you belong to a religion that has the concept of a "Benevolent God", could you tell me what that god has been up to for the last 10 months, and why, please."

"Culling" of the herd by the big shepherd in the sky was one suggestion... the "culltist"...(sic).

The folks in DC -- the "stop the steal" crowd -- are often labeled as "cultists" ...semantics.

Yet, "science" tells us that proximity, breathing Covid-laced aerosols, yelling & screaming, and closed spaces w/o ventilation are the magic equation for catching the coronavirus (aka the Wuhan Flu).

Numbers aside for now, back in DC on 6 Jan, it seems the cultists were screaming and shouting for the culltist (sic) to do something about their unhappiness and frustration.

According to the numbers believe it or not, HE may soon abide. . .

Bay Area researchers develop new rapid COVID-19 test that uses smartphone camera

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Bay Area researchers believe a new device has the potential to ramp up the fight against COVID-19. It's designed to diagnose the virus in a fraction of the time, with the help of something you may have in your pocket.

In a lab at the University of California, researchers are working with a device that can both detect the virus quickly and also indicate how much is present. All it takes is a marriage of Nobel Prize-winning science and consumer electronics, namely, a cellphone.

"And it turns out the phone cameras, which have been getting better and better over time are just as capable if not better than laboratory instruments," says Bioengineer Dan Fletcher, Ph.D...

Got another letter from Matt Hancock yesterday, which apart from telling me not to go out, said that I should receive the vaccine by Mid February, this year.  Not sure which vaccine but I am hopeful that it is the Oxford one. There is also talk of a Covid passport, but nothing about it in the letter.

I'll drink to that

Just got my first dose of the vaccine. Breathtaking speed and efficiency at the vaccination centre. If the supply of vaccine keeps up, the UK will rattle through this vaccination in no time. Far from banning UK tourists, third world shitholes will be clambering over the top of one another trying to attract Brits in no time.
