Australians can fly quarantine-free to New Zealand from April 18 : NZ PM Ardern

Australia’s border has been mostly open to New Zealanders since October, with a few short suspensions when there were small coronavirus outbreaks in Auckland.

But until today’s announcement, New Zealand had delayed returning the favour amid more frequent bursts of COVID-19 clusters across Australia.

“This is an exciting day. The trans-Tasman bubble represents the start of a new chapter in our COVID response and recovery one that people have worked so hard for, and this makes New Zealand and Australia relatively unique,” said NZ PM Jacinta Ardern.

Passengers will need to wear a mask while flying, must download the NZ COVID Tracer app for use in New Zealand and will be kept separate in New Zealand airports from passengers from other countries who are headed into hotel quarantine.

“We will also be undertaking random temperature checks of those arriving as an extra precaution,” she said.

The U.S. Vaccine roll out is tremendous at the moment.

I can the U.S. as one of the first places for travel allowed from the UK, if youse allow us of course :default_biggrin:

Are you sure about that....

Texans governor issued an executive order on Monday banning any regulation that would require Texans to show proof of vaccination before getting a product or service. The order also blocks all businesses or entities receiving state funds from requiring vaccine documentation........

Australia international travel bubble: Six nations we may soon be able to fly to

With New Zealand being given the green light yesterday, several more nations are expected to be added to our travel bubble in the near future.

Singapore could be the first destination outside of New Zealand to be included in the bubble, within months, as immigration and health authorities look to lift restrictions to the southeast Asian nation within months.

After Singapore, Australia is looking to establish quarantine-free travel with other Asian and Pacific countries with low rates of transmission from around August.

This could include nations such as Fiji, Vietnam and Thailand, and eventually Japan and South Korea. Mainland China is also an option, despite diplomatic tensions with Australia.

Vaccinated People Can Get Covid, but It’s Most Likely Very Rare
“Breakthrough” cases, though quite uncommon, are a sharp reminder that vaccinated people should wear masks while the virus is circulating widely.

...Nearly 83 million Americans have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, and it’s unclear just how many of them will have a “breakthrough” infection, though two new reports suggest the number is very small...

Congrats to the UK! Outstanding job, hopefully all of you will be able to get out of all that overcast, rainy weather you are so famous for, and enjoy some warmth and sunshine on a beach real soon.

See, told ya, that's the one you preferred, i wouldn't go near it!

Run fforest run :default_527:

But to get it into perspective, 4 in a million chance, and no link as yet conclusively proven. 5 in a 10000 if you were taking the contraceptive pill.

Better to err on the side of caution, though ...

Plus, Covid gives you blood clots. I developed a blood clot in my thigh in November, and then did an official Government antibody test via my work around the same time, came back positive for antibodies. Connected?  Not 100% sure, but certainly a probability ...

"Herd immunity is sometimes treated as a binary threshold: We’re all safe once we cross it, and all unsafe before that. In reality, herd immunity isn’t a switch that provides individual protection, just a dynamic that makes it hard for epidemics to sustain themselves in a population over the long term. Even if 75 percent of the country has some level of immunity because of vaccination or past infection, the remaining 25 percent remains just as susceptible, individually, to getting infected. And while herd levels of immunity will eventually significantly drive down the number of infections, this may not happen without the epidemic greatly “overshooting”—infecting people beyond the levels required for achieving herd immunity, somewhat like a fire burning at full force even though it is just about to run out of fuel."
