Wifey and I cancelled our trip to Cabo ,and just got back from Vancouver which was a ghost town.

The lad is in Australia at my brothers house,Air Canada phoned and suggested he take a flight on Saturday, rather than wait for his flight on the 26th.

He will have to be isolated at home for two weeks upon his return, not sure how that’s gonna work,as I guess that would mean mama and me as well?

The gym we own is still, open,it’s a private club that doesn’t have drop ins,so we will see how long that will go on for.

WASHINGTON -- A clinical trial evaluating a vaccine designed to protect against the new coronavirus will begin Monday, according to a government official.

The first participant in the trial will receive the experimental vaccine on Monday, the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the trial has not been publicly announced yet.

The National Institutes of Health is funding the trial, which is taking place at a Kaiser Permanente research facility in Washington state, the official said.

Public health officials say it will take a year to 18 months to fully validate any potential vaccine.

The governor said that the province is prepared to tackle the viral disease, adding that the public should not panic and claiming that NTB has got a cure for the novel coronavirus.

“The public should not overly panic. The NTB province has a cure for the coronavirus. It’s what they used in China and Korea, we’ve got it. And that’s what we will use if anyone tests positive,” Zulkieflimansyah said

N.J. closing casinos, movie theaters, gyms tonight because of coronavirus.

Takeout and delivery still an option at restaurants, bars.
Updated 3:35 PM; Today 10:47 AM

By Brent Johnson | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

In an unprecedented regional decision, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut have ordered all movie theaters, casinos and gyms in their states to close indefinitely beginning 8 p.m. Monday night, March 16, and are placing restrictions on restaurants and bars to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

The order will remain “until further notice,” the states’ three governors announced Monday morning.

Restaurants and bars in the states can accept dine-in customers until 8 p.m. Monday. But after that, they will be limited to offering takeout and delivery. Dining in will not be allowed for the foreseeable future. The establishments will be provided a waiver for carry-out alcohol, officials said.

The governors are also banning all public gatherings of 50 people or more in all three states.

Meanwhile, Gov. Phil Murphy said New Jersey is “strongly discouraging” residents from making “non-essential” travel between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the foreseeable future.

Murphy New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont made the announcement just after 10 a.m. during a joint conference call.

“We have agreed to a common set of rules that will pertain in all of our states, so don’t even think about going to a neighboring state,” Cuomo said. “If you can’t do a party in New York City, you can’t do a party in New Jersey, you can’t do a party in Connecticut."

Murphy said he has also Pennsylvania is expected to enact similar measures.

“We’re gonna get through this as one family," he said. “We want everybody home — not out.”

Later in the day, Murphy said said he’s also ordering performing arts centers, night clubs, racetracks, fitness centers, and classes in New Jersey to close indefinitely at 8 p.m. Monday.

Murphy also said all non-essential retail and entertainment businesses in the state must close at 8 p.m. every day beginning Monday. They may remain open during daytime hours each day, as long as they keep their occupancy to 50 people and adhere to “social distancing” guidelines.

The governor said supermarkets, grocery stores, pharmacies, medical offices, and gas stations can stay open at their normal hours.

As for malls, Murphy said they will have to “adhere to the 50-people max in a given unit within the mall."

”For the time being, that’s an area we are going to continue to watch," he said.

Officials said any violations will be treated as a disorderly persons offense and handled by local authorities.

In a separate announcement Monday, Murphy ordered the closing of all public and private schools, including pre-K and colleges, in New Jersey starting Wednesday.

He said during a news conference in Trenton on Monday afternoon that the state does not “take any of these steps lightly.”

“We know each comes with its own set of impacts on residents, on families, on communities, and on local businesses," Murphy added. "But at this moment, our paramount concern must be to flatten the curve of new cases to not overload our health care system.”

“There is no reason anyone should run the risk of infecting their friends, loved ones, or community," he continued.

Murphy acknowledged that the closings will affect St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday. But, he said, that’s a needed sacrifice.

“There will be another St. Patricks Day next year,” he said. “Sitting this one out could be the difference for you or someone you love making it to then.”

“This is not a time for selfishness,” the governor added. “This is a time to think of those around you.”

Monday’s announcement also means all nine of Atlantic City’s casinos will close.

Murphy had been asked in recent days why Atlantic City’s casinos were allowed to remain open even after he recommended last week that all public gatherings of 250 people or more in the state be canceled. He said the casinos floors are “so expansive” that it’s easier for people to distance themselves from each other.

But Murphy also noted on Sunday “we are constantly reconsidering” and closing the casinos was “under intense consideration.”

Murphy said online gambling will continue in New Jersey.

“The bad news is there’s not much to wager on,” he said in reference to how most major sports leagues have suspended play because of the virus.

Casinos in other places — including Las Vegas and Pennsylvania — have announced temporary closings in recent days because of the virus.

Monday’s announcement comes a day after governors from four other states — California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Ohio — announced they were ordering the closure of restaurants and/or bars.

Meanwhile, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the federal government’s top infectious disease expert, said Sunday he would “like to see a dramatic diminution of the personal interaction that we see in restaurants and in bars.”

New Jersey has seen at least 178 confirmed coronavirus cases as of Monday afternoon, including two deaths. Numbers have grown by the day, and officials expect many more cases to come across the state.

“We have seen the enemy,” Murphy said. “We don’t want to be dragged by the enemy. We want to do everything we can to get out ahead of it.

“We have seen the enemy,” the governor said. “We don’t want to be dragged by the enemy."

And Murphy had a message for skeptics.

“I’m begging you: Trust us,” he said. “Believe. This is real. And if it turns out it isn’t, it’s on me.”

The virus, which causes the illness COVID-19, has infect more than 179,000 people and killed more than 7,000 people across the globe, according to a running tally by the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.

New York has the most cases of any U.S. state, at 732, including six deaths. Connecticut has 26 cases and no deaths.

N.J. to mobilize National Guard in coronavirus fight, Gov. Murphy says

By Brent Johnson | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday he’s mobilizing New Jersey’s National Guard to assist in the state’s effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus.  Murphy said during a news conference in Trenton that the Guard will “assist in our efforts in anyway necessary.”

He said that may include help with testing, distributing food to kids during school closings, and possibly converting buildings for self-quarantining.

Brig. Gen. Jemal Beale, the head of the state’s National Guard, said their “most likely missions” will be helping with logistics, transportation, traffic control, security, and using engineers to help bring any damaged facilities back online.

“Wish us luck,” Beale said. “And please wash your hands on a regular basis. And also practice social distancing.”

The National Guard is a reserve military force that governors across the county commonly deploy during natural disasters and emergencies.

Murphy made the announcement as he outlined a number of new restrictions that will severely reshape life in New Jersey for the foreseeable future in the effort to mitigate the outbreak.

Not long back from the gym, hope to f**k I can go again tomorrow night.

They've said they'll not enforce it, but said they hope they don't have to enforce it, pubs, clubs, restaurants etc they want to close -

The key new government measures are:

  • Everyone should avoid gatherings and crowded places, such as pubs, clubs and theatres
  • Everyone should work from home if they can
  • All "unnecessary" visits to friends and relatives in care homes should cease
  • People should only use the NHS "where we really need to" - and can reduce the burden on workers by getting advice on the NHS website where possible
  • By next weekend, those with the most serious health conditions must be "largely shielded from social contact for around 12 weeks"
  • The UK is now "three weeks" behind Italy - the worst-hit country in Europe
  • If one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days
  • Those people should, if possible, avoid leaving the house "even to buy food or essentials" - but they may leave the house "for exercise and, in that case, at a safe distance from others"
  • Schools will not be closed for the moment

Chief medical adviser Prof Chris Whitty said the group of people who should take "particular care to minimise their social contact" were:

  • People over the age of 70
  • Other adults who would normally be advised to have the flu vaccine (such as those with chronic diseases)
  • Pregnant women

What's strange about it?

They're trying to stop people getting infected, hoping people will take personal responsibility.

Though France think their citizens will be idiots about it, so will punish those who don't do as they're told.

I'm riding out the coronavirus at the home of a relative in a town of 20,000 people about halfway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. We went grocery shopping yesterday (Sunday)at BJ's Wholesale Club (a regional competitor to Costco) as well as a major chain supermarket.  Shelves in both were well-stocked, including toilet paper.  The only out-of-stock products were hand sanitizer and medical masks.  All food items were in normal supply.

I exchanged a few words with the manager of the supermarket and he said there hadn't been any real panic buying since the Governor of Delaware declared a state of emergency on Thursday.  There had been a bit of a rush on Thursday evening, he said, but no worse than before warnings of "weather events" like snowstorms and hurricanes.

There's no shortage of toilet paper in the U.S., as 90% is produced domestically and the other 10% comes from Canada.  The surge in demand has exhausted supplies of hand sanitizer, but it is easy to increase supply with existing machines and ingredients.  By contrast, 95% of medical masks are imported.  Only one U.S. company produce them and it's already working at capacity, so it will be difficult to meet demand from medical professionals, much less the public.

In Delaware, schools have been ordered to close for two weeks and universities have sent students home.  There's a statewide banning of gatherings of more than 50 people and Delaware casinos have been closed.  The state of emergency also limits restaurants and bars to take-out orders and delivery.   But so far, everyday life proceeds for the most as usual, except people wash their hands more often and are beginning to practice "social distancing."

Why dont you simply answer the question with a valid argument ? FFS  !

  • If one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days    => You think people living in a small flat will stay in for 2 weeks. So at the end you  have the whole family contiminated ?
  • Those people should, if possible, avoid leaving the house "even to buy food or essentials" - but they may leave the house "for exercise and, in that case, at a safe distance from others"    => dont go buy food or essentials ?

Fucking panic it is. Nothing to do with the country !
