And a bargain at only £50

Best bargain is when someone else is paying ......... 'yeah why not we'll have another bottle of the red, leave the water'....... :default_cheers:

Thanks for being so honest Mr Charlie.  I have suffered from depression in the past and the biggest monster I had to face was isolation. The more I isolated the more I wanted and the more I got the deeper into the depression I went. It's a monster that feeds upon itself.  And the funny part was that I didnt even know it at the time. What i had to do was to force myself to become active rather than sedentary.  I turned off the tv and internet. I cleaned the house. I forced myself to call more people... I told them the truth... that I was going nuts sitting at home and that I needed to talk to real people... some did know how deal with it and freaked out and others were more than happy to help. I had to force myself to go outside and do things... anything. It started with walks around the block and turned into 3 to 4 hour walks with stops at coffee cafes and restaurants for breakfast. It was difficult at first but I knew I couldnt stay any longer in that comfortable little hole that I had dug for myself either. Once again thanks for being so honest in your post. Hope this helps.

Brilliant post, thanks for the honesty👍

I  wouldn't say I became depressed but did hit a really low spot, until I realised that getting out more was the only way forward. In the UK we where only meant to be go out of the house to exercise once a day, or shop for essentials. until a few weeks back

It was killing me mentally, being indoors  had a neighbour begin to question me as to why I seemed to be going shopping each day. This is in the context of being in an area of London that had just about the worst infection rate, and sadly subsequent death rate. Had to point out to him that the backpack I had  on contained my exercise stuff in, and that was what I took down to park most days.

I tactfully didn't mention the fact he had a car and could go out whenever he pleased or him having his extended family coming and going. It did start to make me feel bad about going out, and that dipped into to me beginning to feel a bit paranoid.

Like yourself ended up dumping it on a couple of mates, who where brilliant. Have several family members who are in proper key worker roles so can hardly bitch to them😀

Feel great now, being able to get outdoors as often as I want has made a huge difference to me.

Cheers mate, there's a gym reopened near my house now so I had a look and liked it and have been a couple of times now and although it bloody hurt after the first time I will say I feel a lot better now just from going. I've also cleared up a couple of other things that were bugging me, again another bit of weight from my shoulders gone.

Now if the monkeys in charge here would let the bars open up that would be even better.

I'm lucky in that I have worked all through the lockdown, so ain't had the boredom, just pretty much normal for me.

If I had been furloughed it could possibly have become a problem, especially before we got freedom to travel. Can understand how it can be hard for some people. But I'm pretty happy in my own company so I think I would have been OK dealing with the loneliness.

Well I was working up to Tuesday last week but out of the blue my company ceased trading and I was made redundant.  We were merging with another company and a deal was due to be announced but the powers that be in the guise of those checking mergers and acquisitions decided that the deal could not go ahead without a 3-6 months checking process.

Well the other company walked away and my company's investors pulled the plug so 'yours truly' got made redundant this Monday 01 June.

Still I am that 'half glass full' guy and I am now very positive after initially being a bit shocked.  I am just retiring earlier (was going to be July 2021) and once the powers that be allow a little bit more movement our family will move to another part of the country, rent a 3 bedded house for a while before possibly making a purchase.  I am living in a one bedded flat presently at £900 a month and where I hope to move to I will get the semi detached house with garden for less than £800 a month,  this was the plan for later but will happen earlier now.

I have funds offshore and also pensions that are accessible from 5 weeks today (when I am 65) so it is all coming together nicely.

Porn is furloughed but she wants a new job and is eager to move on as her company have told her that her hotel will only open to 50 percent capacity which logically means her work will no doubt be reduced and she needs to earn more not less.

Quite an exciting time really and I am not working nights now plus seeing more of my daughter is a great positive for me.

Strange times but the future is bright.

A blessing in disguise me thinks!

Good luck with retirement. :default_fam21:

I had planned on going down to Soi Buakhow market today to get some BBQ pork but the way I feel now I'll probably leave it until Friday.

You talking about that stall on the right hand side as you walk in about 20 m? If so, that guy consistently sells delicious racks of BBQed ribs. Been hitting him up for 2 years now.

I’ve been furloughed, against my wishes, desperately want to work...... first month or six weeks was ok, got really into sorting out a large garden.

last few weeks I’ve really struggled to get motivated...... becoming more obvious my employer is going to have to make huge redundancies (jan and feb they were recruiting,!!) wages were just about ok, but I always had the option of unlimited overtime.... but it was decent hours, plenty of time off....but most important was the work mates and the banter...... never minded going to work

When furlough finishes, or even when employers have to start paying a percentage, there's going to be carnage, loads of redundancies.

Like you, I have discovered I prefer to actually 'be at work' than working from home in my case, for a variety of reasons. Like you I miss the social aspect, the banter, but I also increasingly find it harder to get motivated, i'm not disciplined enough to be working from home full time.  A couple of days a week when it's purely online stuff, like reports, spreadsheets or budgets. I think that's the way it will be as well for a while.

Of course it has it's positives as well, seeing more of my young daughter.

No, this one is down near Pattaya Tai end of the market, it looks like mum and daughter running it, I was there again today and the market was quiet again.

Not drinking at all. Just don't have the desire

Mentally up and down like a fucking yo yo.

Social "isolation" doesn't affect me much as I am used to not interacting in person much anymore and have enough contact with others where I still feel like I can carry on a reasonable conversation, lol. Most of those I care to interact with I am able to do on line, which is fine with me. I never feel "lonely". The thing that fucks with my moods/outlook (post Corona) is the uncertainties imposed on me by others. Leaving me with having less confidence and control on where I may be living in the future and how I will be getting there.

Physically holding my own, not putting on weight but not in the condition I care to be. Hard to even get motivated for a walk when you think someone will shake you down because you forgot to cover your nose with your mask.

Yup! You walk into the food stall area of the market off Buakow near the R-Con. 40 feet on the right, he has a small stall with the ribs in one of those large wood/clay pots. He sells it by the kilo at a reasonable price. If he's moved location in the market, you'll find him eventually. Before he moved up to the market years back, he set up in front of Tesco on Buakow for many years. Delicious BBQed ribs !!

Wonder if that's the same guy that sets up occasionally next to Area 51 on Soi Diana. Usually go for the chicken breast, but the ribs looked good. Haven't seen him in that location lately, but the couple that run the kebab stand opposite are back.
