Starting work on a couple more buildings at the new X Zyte market.

Nice photos.  I appreciate the updates.  I'm sure the people doing all this new building have a positive outlook for the future. I think it will pay off in a few years.

Thanks for all of your photos.

Last week our neighborhood was informed the tree that was last of the jungle our neighborhood was carved from many years ago was slated for execution today. Not much else going on with the lockdown, so thought I'd capture the old tree's final hours.

The reason the tree had to come down is it was getting too big for its britches. The tree was pushing out and cracking the security wall, and it's roots were cracking the wall foundation and steps.

Noticed when the trunk was cut into pieces and brought down, there was a scrum by the neighbors, including my lady, to whack off and take home sections of the vine that had made the trunk home. I'm told this particular vine is valuable, for what reason I don't know.

I was quite concerned for our electric lines when I saw how they were going to take down the large branches. The large crane was used to lift the limb while the bucket guys sawed through the base of the limb. My concern was by attaching the strap too far out on the end of the limb, when the limb was cut it would drop and swing in an arc hitting the electric lines as it swung back and forth. Luckily the swinging limb missed the lines by a few cm's and only the smaller branches snagged the line.

The utility lines on the other side of the soi took a bit of a beating, but survived the encounter with the execution crew. Noticed too not one of the crew was wearing anything to protect their brainpan.

Execution completed and all that was left was cleanup of the few bits that remained of a tree that dominated and provided a nice bit of shade for the area for untold years.

Here in Naklua Road a tree extended from the building site past the line where they intended to fence off.  I would have thought the obvious was to cut down the tree or at least give it a serious trim.  Alas no; make a gap in the boundry fence. 😀

Not a lot of progress made by mid afternoon.

I was puzzled by the fact they brought two identical panels out to hang on the frame in the sand. What may have happened is they should be two different panels, but they never checked they had the correct ones before loading the truck. If that was the case they still had a half day to go back and pick up the correct one.

The aftermath of today's storm starting at Sukhumvit looking towards Pattaya Tai.

This was the first test of all the enlarged drains they put in on the soi that runs past M Club. No surprise it was a big fail. I was on my mtn bike and the water was over my seat at the high water mark. That puts the water level just shy of 1m high.

This is looking up the soi by R Con where they spent all those months putting in a catch basin and pumps to keep the soi from flooding.

Underground drain at the WS entrance was getting worked on this morning.

The drainage work at the low point on Sukhumvit near Pattaya Tai looks to have been completed. What is surprising is the area still had flood waters during last Friday's storm that were high enough to force the closure of Sukhumvit.

A shot of this evening's activity around Tree Town. There's a good amount of foot and vehicle traffic, but without the usual crowd sitting and drinking on the footpath along Buakhao. What I find irritating is once again the vendors have taken over 90% of the footpath causing most to walk in the street. IMHO that's going to become a bigger problem once the bars are allowed to open and the crowds return.

I was surprised to see this morning the iconic, Tue/Fri Buakhao market is no more.

Edited to add: Just saw a post on PA the market is now on the other side of the road. I was so focused on the empty land, never thought to look across the road.

Quite a bit more damage on the beach after last night's storm compared to a the storm damage from a week and a half ago. This time the damage was along the entire length of the beach.

Somebody finally got smart and lined a channel to keep more of the beach from washing away. Something they should have done from the very beginning. All they need now to make this a workable solution is build a foot bridge across the channel.

The dogs were barking up a storm this morning at an early morning visitor on my neighbor's roof. First time in 10 years I've seen a monkey in the neighborhood.
