Popular Post Butch
Be warned, this doesn't make for particularly joyful viewing. Pre Mayor Lim, Del Pilar street was full of bars, clubs, girls and touts. Lim closed it down literally overnight, now this was well before my time, but it got gradually worse. Now, post Covid, it looks bloody dystopian. Now, my geography of the area isn't great, plus I was sweating a lot and got a bit disoriented. One, better part of the street: Opposite direction: The Infamous "LA Cafe"Freelancer joint. Open 24/7, very busy on Thursday / Friday / Saturday nights, prices range from S/T 2000 to 3000 peso, L/T 4000 peso. San Mig light is 100 peso, service is awful, so best option is to buy and pay on receipt of drinks. Careful of the LD scam, if you're with a girl and you buy her a drink you get charged 250php, so so what I do, buy 2 or 3 beers at a time and give one to the girl, if the waitresses come over demanding money for an LD, tell them it's your beer you've paid for and tell them where to go. One of the many derelict buildings, formerly a bar on the street. One survivor, further up Del Pilar (I think, might be wrong on the location) Site of the former Amazonian Hotel , bar and S/T joint. Had some good afternoons here, decent pool tables and a good selection of girls a few years back. Nightsky Bar, possibly closed. small and seedy. Amazonia from the other angle. More depressing reading. Just up from here was the old "Caesars" Club. could do with some investment. Finally some new construction. Told you it was dystopian, and that's repeated across much of the outer areas of Manila and EDSA. However, go down one of the streets that adjoin Del Pilar and the picture is different: Then, less than 50 yards away... And..
