Sterling paper notes - swap or spend 'em before the end of Sept

I admit to having a few stashed away, and also some for my holiday which I'll be changing ever since I learned that some money exchanges in Thailand won't accept them. Lucky I checked actually and props to the poster who mentioned it.

I quite like the polymer notes tbh, as they're almost always clean and don't tear very easily like the paper ones.

Am I right in saying that banks no longer issue paper notes anyway?.

Not seen a paper note for a very long time now.
