What a spread it is. Maybe an insult to American taxpayers, but still, has to be one of the best postings a State Department veteran could ever have. I have had the pleasure of experiencing it twice now. Eric John, 3 or 4 Ambassadors once threw an awesome BBQ back when the mad cow scare was on and US Beef was banned in Thailand. We were craving it after awhile so a BBQ was thrown at his pad where they helicoptered in a whole bunch of delicious cow from a aircraft carrier in International waters direct to the property of the Ambassador. The ice box and cool bag contain the white mans survival rations .... Empty 5l bottles are used for water storage in the village. The whole family must all have a dozen of them by now ! Edit : OK After 30 min here is the map. As you can see the average speed isn't much. In fact you seldom hit over 60km/h .... And Google even tells me I would be faster by bike !
