lazarus Posted December 6, 2021 Share Posted December 6, 2021 This old Hibernia Bank is where my Grandmother Marie worked in downtown San Francisco when I was a little guy in the early-1960s. My mother used to drop her off at work in the morning and I came along for the ride. My father worked at a golf shop a few blocks further down the street. It's still there. I pointed it out to my daughter a few days ago when we were on the streetcar. For the last 5 years (at least), downtown San Francisco was always a shithole, in my opinion. I used to dread using the Embacadero BART station because of the homeless and drug situation. Yet it's all relative as even when I was young (in the 60s & 70s) there were a lot of winos and bums along different streets... and the Tenderloin has always had its share of bad actors (since the 1850s Gold Rush). 21st Century homelessness and bad drugs (fentanyl & synthetic meth) have created much more dire issues.
